Practice the 1:2 step off a shoot out step and a cross step.

Summary

Practice the footwork for quick efficient stops. This is more efficient and stronger than the jump stop. The jump stop requires your legs to fire and explode twice (on the jump stop and again on the jump shot). The 1: 2 requires only one fire and explode move. Step to the right with the right foot and right-hand dribble. Stop with the left foot 1st followed by the right foot – ten toes pointing at the rim. Cross step to the left (right foot crosses in front) with a left-hand dribble. Stop with a left foot following the cross step.
