Practice defense basics like slides and closeouts while improving conditioning.
Half the players are lined up on the court, near the mid-court line, facing a basket. Half the players are divided on the two sidelines. A coach or player dribbles side to side in front of the court players. The players on the court follow the coach, in a defensive slide. When the ball is bounced high the defenders jump up quickly; when ball is dribbled low the players quick step in place. When the ball is passed to a sideline player the court players close out to the ball. Run each group for 30 to 45 seconds then switch groups.
