Practice the reverse dribble as a change of direction move. (video options)
The reverse dribble is not the same as a spin dribble. A reverse dribble uses your body to protect the ball as you reverse direction. Breaking down the reverse dribble – going right - start by using a cross step and stepping out past the defender with the left foot. As the defender moves to turn you, pull the ball back and around with the right hand, pivoting on the left foot. As you cross step and drive down the lane your shoulders will be facing the near sideline. As you reverse your dribble and pivot, your shoulders will turn with the ball from facing the near sideline to facing the far sideline. The ball remains in the right hand until you complete the pivot. The ball (in the right hand) and the right foot hit the court together. Done correctly the defender is now on your back. Then the ball is switched to the left hand. Practice the move going both to the right and to the left. Once the footwork is mastered work to keep the ball tight to the body as you pivot.
Set up cones at the elbows, elbows extended, directly under the basket and in each short corner. Start at an elbow extended cone. Dribble up to the cone and reverse dribble. Continue through the other cones using the reverse dribble at each. Return in the other direction.

If not done correctly the ball is left exposed and the defender can steal the ball. See -NC State - Notre Dame Steal https://youtu.be/FfMQ77z8_HU?t=35
