Use the power dribble position to protect the ball and relieve defensive pressure.
The power dribble position is used to protect the ball and see the court while under pressure. To get in a power dribble position turn so you are perpendicular to the defender's chest - your front shoulder into the defender with your arm bar up and into the defender's chest (if she reaches in). The ball is at the back foot. From this position the dribbler can manage pressure. If the defnder reaches in the dribbler steps into the defender and uses the arm bar to keep her away from the ball.
This position can also allow the dribbler to escape from pressure. From the power dribble position the dribbler pushes back two steps - maintaining the perpendicular position to the defender. As the defender steps up to regain the pressure position the dribble attacks the defender's front foot using a shoot out step or a hip swivel into a cross over.
