Using the eyes and changes in height level to open passing windows. (video option)
To be good or great defender you have to be able to pass through defenders. Passes that float over or around defenders are less effective, if effective at all.
To pass through defenders the passer must pass through one of the 5 passing windows.
1 & 2 – over each shoulder
3 & 4 - under each arm, below the hips
5 – over the top of the head
To open a passing window a passer fakes to close a window and then passes through another, open window. Fake with the eyes and by changing your height. Avoid moving the ball around. Hold the ball with the elbow bent. Gesture with the eyes and shoulders to close the window (minimal ball movement) and pass through the open window.
Set up a defender in front of the passer with a receiver and another defender about 15 feet away. Practice as above. After passing your defender steps to the side to allow the next pass to come to you.
