Description

Practice pivoting and protecting the ball from a defender.

Summary

This drill works on protecting the ball, passing under pressure, ball fakes, curl passes and on ball defense. Four players in a line – 10’ between them. The 2 middle players are defenders. One end player has a ball. The nearest middle player defends the ball. The offensive player tosses the ball out and steps to it with a jump stop, and pivots for 3 seconds, counts out loud, then passes by the defender to the next defender in line. The passer then runs to the defender who passes back to her. She jump stops at the next defender and pivots for another 3 seconds, again counting out loud. She uses a curl pass to pass around the defender. She then goes and defends that player who begins the drill in the opposite direction.
