Use a jump stop to decelerate under control and finish or pass. (video option)
Skilled guards master the jump stop as a method of regulating their speed and maintaining control in traffic. A jump stop allows the player to avoid charge calls, neutralize a shot blocker and distribute to open players. A player can create offense by getting dribble penetration into the key, drawing the help defender, using the jump stop and finding the open man.
Set up a line on the left wing, foul line extended. An offensive player is in the opposite short corner with a defender. The wing player makes a move and drives hard into the lane. When the defender moves over to help the wing player jump stops and passes to the short corner player who moves into position for the finish. The defender can show early, late or fake the help and recover to add difficulty. SEE – JALEN BRUNSON JUMP STOP PASSING (1:28) https://youtu.be/m05txT2_ZT4
