Using a screen to make space and score. (video option)
Using the correct footwork when coming off a screen can contribute to better separation, improved balance, a quicker shot release, and better reads
To create maximum separation on the cut off a screen, cutters must set the defender up on the screen, read the defender’s reaction (did she go under the screen or is she following?) and execute proper footwork once clear of the screen – BEFORE RECEIVING THE BALL. This includes cutting low off the screeners hip, accelerating off the screen, step back footwork, catching the ball down and ready to shoot.
