The guide hand supports the ball for the shooting hand. It is placed on the side of the ball. Typically, the guide hand is placed so the thumb points behind the player with the fingers pointing up. The guide hand comes off the ball before the player drops her wrist on the release. When the guide hand comes off the ball it is motionless, facing the shooting arm and slightly bent.
