Practicing shot form with feedback for correction.
The player picks a line on the court and stands with the feet in the correct position, balanced, right foot (dominant foot) on the line and shoots the ball in the air, at approximately rim height, attempting to have it land on the line. If the shot lands left or right of the line it is a miss, on the line is a hit. Assure that the elbow finishes at eyebrow (correct arch) and the eyes are focused on the line (target). Players can learn to self-correct by observing the outcome of the shot. If a right handed shooter’s shot lands to the right of the line it is likely that her elbow flared out. If the shot lands to the left of the line it is likely her fingers were not pointing to the target on the follow through but rather pointing to the left.
