Practice the split and go to improve your first step. (2 video options)
See the pass and as the pass is in the air hop and split your feet. If you are going to drive left, the left foot is slightly ahead. On the catch turn the hips and explode to the basket. The slight step back IS needed to accelerate – it engages the hips. This is necessary to accelerate properly. Alternate starts using rapid foot taps, lateral shuffles and standing starts – all into a split and go.
