Practice transition defense while improving conditioning.
Five lines are established – one at each corner, one at each lane / baseline and one under the basket. A player from the 2nd line is at the 2nd hash mark with a ball. All other players are at the baseline. On the whistle the player with ball speed dribbles the length of the court with the 3rd line player chasing to defend. The players in the other lines sprint with them, keeping their lanes. The player with the ball tries to score. Then the scorer and the defender race back to the far basket and defend the fast break which is run by the other 3 lines.
