Description

Practice executing and defending 2 on 1 situations.

Summary

Arrange the players in three lines at mid-court. The player in the middle line faces center court and drops the ball then retreats to the key to defend. One of the other two players picks up the ball and thinks score, driving hard to the basket, drawing the defender and passing off to the other player. The other offensive player sets the correct angle for the pass and layup. Emphasize decision making.

The defender remains "open" (facing the opposite rim) as long as possible. This allows her to respond and step quickly to either side, possibly deflecting a pass. She tries to avoid committing to one side other other until necessary.
