Description

Practice dribbling through trapping pressure.

Summary

Set a defender at the foul line, another just over mid-court and a third at the opposite foul line. The ball handler begins at the end line and dribbles, using only the middle 1/3 of the court. The first defender tries to turn the ball handler, forcing her to make space and change direction. If the ball handler beats the defender, or approaches the next defender, both defenders try to trap. The ball handler uses hip swivels, step backs etc. to get away from the pressure. Once she uses those moves the 1st defender drops off. As she approaches mid-court, the ball handler is aware of making space before she crosses mid-court – to avoid a backcourt violation.

If the ballhandler beat defender 2 or approaches defender 3 both defenders trap again until the ballhandler uses a move to create space away from the pressure. The ball handler then attacks defender 3 and tries to score.
